In the southwest of the Iberian Peninsula, as it flows through Extremadura and on its way to the Atlantic Ocean, the Guadiana River gives life to one of the region's most fertile and unique agricultural areas: the Guadiana Plains. This broad valley, favored by the presence of water and exceptional natural conditions, has become an area of ​​great agricultural and environmental wealth. The extensive irrigated areas are supplied by a significant system of reservoirs and dams, which store large reserves of clean, high-quality water.

This hydraulic system not only allows for the development of productive and stable agriculture but has also given rise to a distinctive landscape, comprised of inland lakes, canals, and wetlands of considerable ecological value. Within this environment, a highly valuable aquatic agroecosystem has been established, particularly well-suited for rice cultivation.

In the Guadiana River Valley, over 25,000 hectares are cultivated with rice, an activity that forms an essential part of the local economy and the livelihood of numerous farming families. The combination of abundant water, agricultural expertise, and a commitment to the land has allowed this area to become renowned for its significant rice production.

Five rice farmers' cooperatives, with a combined production exceeding 100,000 tons, joined forces to create a modern, efficient industry capable of processing, transforming, and marketing a large portion of the rice produced in the region. This union gave rise to EXTREMEÑA DE ARROCES, a company formed by the producers themselves, allowing them to maintain direct control over every stage of the process.

Thanks to its cooperative origins, EXTREMEÑA DE ARROCES guarantees the traceability of its rice from the field to the final product, ensuring quality, transparency, and trust. Furthermore, its structure allows it to offer a constant, flexible supply tailored to the needs of its customers, while always maintaining a connection to the land, the farmers, and the natural environment that make its production possible.
